How Learning Works

The goal of this seminar is to help informatics PhD students, post-docs, and faculty to grow as teachers, by learning how humans learn. We discuss research-based principles of teaching and learning, and we discuss and apply a set of concrete strategies based on those principles.

The course is structured around a fantastic textbook: “How Learning Works: Seven Research-Based Principles for Smart Teaching”

You will connect the principles and strategies we cover to the specific course you currently assist in or teach. This means that you need to be a TA or instructor in some course at the time you are taking this seminar.
